Grand Master Wei Chueh

Grand Master Wei Chueh left the secluded life of an ascetic living in the mountains of Taiwan to found the Chung Tai Chan Monastery and has emerged as a great Chan Master who teaches Buddhadharma to thousands of people. His initial Chan-7 retreat which hosted 20 persons swelled, over time, from six to seven participants. The sangha of four ordained monks and 300 lay disciples, formed in 1987, today boasts more than 1500 ordained monks and nuns and more than half a million lay disciples. Grand Master Wei Chueh has revived Chan in the world and has tirelessly brought the teachings of the Buddha to all people.
The fast pace of modern life has fragmented the Mind and modern man seeks to re-discover his center. The serenity of meditation and the wisdom of Chan teaching are the forms of therapy that will help the people of the 21st century to deal with these stressful conditions. During the past decades, Grand Master Wei Chueh has tirelessly led Chan-7 retreats and given Dharma lectures in Taiwan and abroad. Individuals from all walks of life such as administration, business, education, technology, arts, medicine, mass communications, etc., have greatly benefited from his teaching.
